If the tea party claims to be so conservative, why are they in favor of big government?

I didn't realize the Tea Party took an official, unilateral stance on issues such as abortion and euthanasia. The Tea Party is about being a fiscal conservative, or even a Libertarian. Just because most members happen to also be social conservatives is another issue.
