Was I in labour last night? so confused!?

Last night around 1am I started to get extremely bad lower back pain and my uterus was kept going hard and it was very uncomfortable but I woke up this morning and the pains have completely gone?! I was gonna call my midwife last night but i was really tired and decided to do it this morning but now I have no pains... Im 37 weeks pregnant.
