Im going to Yosemite for labor day weekend but was unable to get a half dome permit, is is still wort it?h?

Hiking/biking was the main purpose of the trip but considering how impossible it it go get half dome hiking permits I was unable to. Is there still other trails worth hiking? Is the permit only for the cables? Can someone help out a little its gonna be my first time. Thanks
