Were you induced electively?

I am 37 weeks as of yesterday and my dr is really pushing an elective induction after 39 weeks. I am not completely opposed, I just have heard horror stories. I heard of long, hard labors when medically induced. Did you get induced? When? How was your labor? My first daughter was born on her due date and I had her within 5 hrs of reaching the hospital, 15 min of pushing...easy labor. Any thoughts?
