What's the right thing to do in this situation?

this is a tough one. You are not a deadbeat! you made an effort to give the money back to them and they refused it. this is what I would do; Keep my job, stash away the money for the car, and when your parents can finally pull their skirts up and treat you like a son, then give them the money. that way, you can feel confident that your intention to pay them was 100%...you did your part, now the ball is in their court. you should not feel bad about your job at all [and I do not necessarily agree with abortion either]. If push comes to shove, tell mom and dad that you quit that job...and are now a stripper. I do wish you the best of luck!
